SOAR DISCUSSION GUIDE
Work of Reconciliation
Guest Speaker Tim Chong, Sunday 25th June
Vision
To build disciples who represents Jesus to everyone, everywhere with everything
Previous Obedience Step
One of the key values in discipleship is hearing and obeying the Word. Therefore, it is important to have accountability to one another for our step of obedience from studying the Word. Spend the first part of your discussion asking – how did your step of obedience go from last time we met?
Scripture
Read 2 Corinthians 5:16 – 20
Observation
- What do these passages tell us about God?
- What do these passages tell us about you and your life?
- What did you like about this passage?
- What did you not like about this passage?
Application
Tim shared two principles of how we can do the work of reconciliation in the midst of our people problems:
- See our people problems the way Jesus did (2 Cor 5:16 NLT)
- Respond to our people problems the way Jesus did by:
- dropping our differences (2 Cor 5:16-20 MSG)
- making things right (2 Cor 5:16-20 MSG)
- giving people a fresh start (2 Cor 5:16-20 MSG)
Discuss the following questions:
- Share with one another the people problems you face at work.
- What words would you use to describe how you see that person? How would Jesus see your people problem differently?
- What would applying one or more of the three responses look like in the context of your people problem? What are some of the challenges you face to respond in that way?
Response
- Is there a truth that God wants you to obey?
- What will you do to obey this? I will…
